The third biggest mistake being made by smaller charities is just not being organised enough. This means that they don’t think tactically or strategically or think in a long term way. This is often the result of contract based funding.
When I was working for a fundraising consultant in the 1990’s he used to start his presentations to clients by writing “GET ORGANISED” on a flip chart. This is good advice. It costs nothing and you can start today by thinking about what your organisation wants to be doing in five years time.
